ABOUT THE PRODUCT

About Device-Test

Device-Test is a free, privacy-first browser utility for checking the hardware and permissions that modern websites rely on. It brings microphone, camera, speaker, screen-sharing, display, keyboard, gamepad, sensor, and network checks together in one place, so users do not need to visit a collection of unrelated test pages before an important call, recording session, live stream, presentation, or browser troubleshooting session.

The service is designed for everyday users, remote teams, developers, and QA professionals. A visitor can open the site, choose the capability they want to verify, and run the check directly in a modern desktop or mobile browser. There is no account to create, no app to install, and no file to upload. Device access is requested only when the visitor starts a relevant test, making the permission flow clear and intentional.

For microphone checks, Device-Test can request access, list available input devices after permission is granted, display a live waveform, and show volume activity. Camera checks provide a live preview and help confirm that the selected webcam is available. Screen-sharing checks use the browser's native share picker so users can verify that screen, window, or tab capture works before joining a meeting or starting a demo. Additional tools help validate speakers, displays, keyboards, gamepads, sensors, and network behavior.

Privacy is central to the product. Audio, video, and screen content are handled locally through native browser Web APIs and are not sent to Device-Test servers. The server delivers the web interface, while the actual device tests run in the visitor's browser. This architecture also makes the tool fast to open and useful on machines where software installation is restricted.

Device-Test is especially helpful before Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, webinar, streaming, and online interview sessions. It can also support developers reproducing browser permission problems, QA teams checking device enumeration, and support teams guiding customers through hardware troubleshooting. The focused pages make it easy to share a direct link to the exact test someone needs.

The product is completely free to use. Its goal is to provide a simple, trustworthy alternative to fragmented device-test websites while offering broader coverage in a single clean interface. Device-Test works best in current browsers that support the required Web APIs, and each test explains what permission or browser capability is needed before the user begins. Because everything is web-based, the same URL can be reused across onboarding documents, support replies, pre-event checklists, and bug reports. The interface is intentionally lightweight so a visitor can reach a useful diagnostic result quickly, even when they are already under time pressure.
